Caitlin Prescott was a baby when her parents were killed. Adopted by a wealthy Texas oil family, she is now 24-year-old Kate Montgomery, a news reporter who just landed a dream job in the Capitol that seems to good to be true. Little does she know that her career is being manipulated by a wealthy and powerful madman. Meanwhile, she's being stalked and her bodyguard, Teague Ramos, is turning her world upside down.
I thought this was a pretty interesting read. A crazy senator killed her birth parents because he was in love with her mother. Kate's siblings, meanwhile, are plotting his downfall and looking for their baby sister. Kate looks eerily like her mother, which piques the senator's interest and makes him believe he was given a second chance to make her his.
I usually love Christina Dodd's books. This is the first time that I've read a contemporary novel of hers. I'm more used to her Victorian romances. But it was worth a read. I didn't know that there were two other books before this that follows the lives of her two birth sisters. I usually don't like to read things out of order so I usually read the blurb to see if a particular book is part of a trilogy or series. The blurb for this didn't mention anything about two previous novels nor that this was the finale. Nevertheless, I may read the other two simply because the storyline looks interesting for the first sister, Hope.
