Heart of the Tiger - Lynn Kerstan
Miranda Holcombe wants to destroy the Duke of Tallant for what he has done to her and her family. Michael Keynes, newly returned from India and the duke's younger brother, also wants to bring the duke to ruin. Although they each have different reasons for vengeance upon the duke, they have been brought together by circumstance and can't help but be drawn to each other as much as they think of the other as a distraction to their individual goal.

I liked this second book in Kerstan's Cat Trilogy much better than the first. I think the characters were much more intriguing and likeable. Even though she's tormented inside by what the Duke has done to her, Miranda stays strong and eventually sees that she can overcome her doubts and fears. Michael Keynes also has reason to hate his brother but doesn't let that blind him to the needs of others. Similar to the first book, the hero has an Indian companion. But, in this book, Hari Singh is a friend and considered equal in class to Keynes -at least in both thieir views. His character disappears a little in the end and I would have liked to see him throughout the rest of the book but it's ok because it is at this point when Miranda and Michael are trying to come to terms with each other.

There are also little twists and suprises that keep the storyline entertaining and interesting enough to make you want to read more.
