All scrapped out
It took me about three twelve-hour days to complete the scrapbook. But the look on their faces as they flipped through the pages was all worth it. They exclaimed over it and were amazed and astounded. Wei even cried! I felt proud (that they thought it was amazing), happy (that they liked it) and embarrassed (that they thought it was so wonderful) all at the same time.

So here are the promised pictures. You can click on them for a detailed view.

Cover:

Wedding Shower invitation. I made this when I co-hosted their couple shower. (Read the little poem in the beginning)

The Wedding Invitation. Marc, Wei and I spent a LONG day making the invitations. Our shoulders ached, our eyes crossed, and our backs throbbed.

I made this program after many revisions and fingercrossing that the Chinese font I downloaded would work. Marc helped fold and put the sash on. You'll see more of the inside later.

Next two pages showing the pre-wedding preparations. In the second page, notice how the middle pic is framed by cutting the outer pictures to form a negative space around the middle photo.

This is the back of the program which showed people in the wedding party. Some of the names are also written in Chinese characters.

Here we're walking down the aisle. I'm in the upper right hand corner with the huge smile.

This page shows the inside of the program in Chinese and English version. Also on this page is a reading that Reggie did from Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet.

The following pages show the ceremony.

These next pages are pictures taken immediately after the ceremony. I tried to make a jigsaw puzzle out of some photos (seen in the close-up picture). God, that took a LONG time.

This shows pictures taken right before the reception. Marc and Wei's entrance is at the bottom right.

The speeches were made by Wei's dad and Marc's mom. See how lovely Wei looks as she looks on as her dad speaks. The speeches actually occur right after the couple's entrance (instead of during or after the dinner as we do in the States).

Right after the speeches, the couple poured the champagne down a pyramid of glasses. However, the one bottle of champagne couldn't fill all the glasses so only the top half were somewhat filled. Then the cake was cut. The bride and groom figurines fell as they were cutting the cake which is why Wei and Marc were laughing.

During dinner, Marc and Wei mysteriously disappeared only to reappear later with Wei in a different dress. She didn't wear the typical red Chinese dress. (Actually, the whole wedding was a bit atypical which pretty much reflected Marc and Wei's uniqueness.) They then proceeded to go around and light candles that were located (deep) in each of the centerpieces. Also, according to tradition, they had to go around and drink a toast at each table. Marc and Wei replaced the wine in their bottle with Coke while another bottle filled with regular wine was poured for everyone else. Somehow, they still ended up getting buzzed. Maybe people got suspicious of the little bubbles floating up in Marc and Wei's glasses. Notice how I tried to make each picture look like a Polaroid.

Some random pics taken during the reception.

Relaxing in their honeymoon suite after the reception. That pot with a big peanut is supposed to represent a chamber pot. I don't know what it nor the peanut symbolizes and I don't think Wei does either.

Their honeymoon in Australia! Yay, happily ever after.

So there you have it. My very first scrapbook. If making other scrapbooks are as time-consuming, this may very well be my last. It looks much better in person when you see it all together. It may not be as great as the others I've seen online, but I'm still proud of it. Its more than gratifying to know that Marc and Wei love it and understand the time and energy and love I put in to it.
