The holidays are always a bit of a balancing act for me between Reggie's family and my own. For Christmas I was able to spend Christmas Eve with the Tagles and Christmas Day with the Weiss'.
I always like beautifully wrapped gifts although I have no particular talent for it, I don't think. I tried by buying ribbons and assorted decorations for the presents. I was only able to take a picture of one gift which, ironically, I DIDN'T wrap. However, I DID contribute the little holly. This was Tita Becky's gift:

We didn't have many decorations but we put up all we had the day of Christmas Eve, which is pretty late. Oh well. That probably means we'll still have them up come February.
Oh yeah, we got the Filipino-style, native decorations.

After eating, we get to the best part. Opening gifts!! We did it round-robin style.
The highlights of the evening were:
Tita Becky's Homedics Shiatsu Massager from me and Reg! Everyone had their 15 minutes on it. It says not to use before sleeping because is stimulates. It doesn't seem to have that affect on Tita Becky.

Marc's portable DVD player from me and Reg! He was very excited about it, especially when we told him he could play Soul Caliber with it in the car.

Then there's the Kali training knives for Reg from Marc and Wei, and the Bluetooth earpiece encased in a futuristic-looking compartment from me. (I had already bought him a leather jacket a week earlier).

I got one of my favorite types of gift: MAKEUP!

Reg and I gave a Wei a nice Espresso-colored mesh Skagen watch. Unfortunately, the day before, Wei, Marc and I were in The Westchester and Wei was looking at super duper expensive watches and saying how she wanted something like that. I was nodding and agreeing, but inwardly cringing at the thought that we got her a watch that wasn't as grand as the ones we were looking at. I still think our watch was pretty though!

And then the GRAND FINALE...Marc and Wei's scrapbook from me! (and Reggie)

As I mentioned in my previous, they REALLY liked the scrapbook. All in all, Christmas Eve at the Tagles went well. The gifts were great but it was really the camarederie that we all had that made it truly feel like Christmas.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of Christmas Day at the Weiss house. Mom was working that day so I set up the gifts I got them, an external hard drive for Rich and a multifunction printer for Mom. I think they liked their gifts.
Christmas certainly did sneak up on me this year...and just like that, it has left. Christmas songs started playing the last week of November with some stations running them nonstop. And then December 26 comes and they're gone just like that, leaving you with a vague feeling of relief and loss. The only indications that the holiday season was even here are the extra pounds gained from all the Christmas parties attended, the rolled up Christmas paper that we've stuck in the corner of the closet for use next year, the unusually high amount of bottles of wine given as presents from co-workers and clients, and the decorations that we still haven't gotten around to taking down. Now that its not on, I miss those darn Christmas songs. There's always next year.
