Shopping Frenzy
I never knew about post-Christmas sales. In the back of my mind I kind of knew that things were cheaper after Christmas but I never knew about the crazy sales that had the ability to get my blood pumping, my heart racing and my adrenaline levels shooting through the roof. I got my first taste after ice skating at Central Park with Jen, JL, Horacio and Cary.

I went to Zara at 34th Street and they had an amazing sale. I went kind of crazy. Bought a new coat, three sweaters and pants. I must've been there for an hour and a half. I then went to Banana and bought two shirts. After that, I just had to go home or else I'd totally deplete my savings.

Actually, thinking back on it, that trip to 34th Street wasn't really my first taste of post-Christmas shopping. THAT occurred the day after Christmas when I saw Jen blog that there was a sale going on at American Eagle with free shipping online for ONLY the 26th. The fact that it was 15 minutes to midnight made me feel like I just HAD to buy something or I'd miss out on a great deal (even though I'd never bought anything from there before). So it was pure impulse and the feeling of something slipping through my hands that had me fumbling for my credit card and clicking on "Submit Order" 2 minutes before midnight. The results:

I had to return a pair of jeans though because it was WAY too small. Which I made up for by buying a pair of jeans from Club Monaco along with a dress and a sweater the following week. I'm telling you, I just could not stop!

But with school starting I've repressed the urge to buy buy buy! I've recently downloaded a trial version of Microsoft Money. It gives you reports and charts of your financials. The pie chart of my spending habits the past month gave me quite a jolt. Next to education expenses, clothes were the second largest expenses covering almost a third of the pie. Holy crap!

I've made a decision. The next time I go on a shopping spree, I'll be earning more than $60,000 and not mere dollars and cents. Hopefully, that'll be by next year. I hope.
